Nissan NV200 (09 - present)

The NV200 is a small but very tough van. Unlike some of its competitors, it has the footprint of a small-wheelbase and the cargo capacity of a large one. On top of that it has a very reasonable price tag and doesn’t cost a fortune to keep on the road, thanks to the efficient engines. Not to mention that it’s really reliable too. In terms of looks, it might not be the flashiest or most recognisable van, but the understated and sophisticated appearance sits well with a lot of drivers. The cabin is a nice place to be too; it has plenty of high-quality materials, a decent level of standard kit, and lots of room to move around for the driver and passenger(s). When it comes to cargo capability, it really does impress; the overall payload is around 750kg and it has a maximum load capacity of 4.2 cubic metres, which makes it one of the best vans in its class. On the road, the NV200 is just as impressive. The small dimensions means that it’s pretty easy to control and park, despite having some blind-spots. It handles well, the steering is light but accurate, and the ride feels smooth for the most part.

Look out for

•  Reports of heavy tyre wear on rear wheels; be vigilant
